Townsend Named Basketball
Honorable
Mention All-American

The National Association
of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2009 NAIA
Division I Women's Basketball All-America teams. Players were selected
by the All-America committee. Avila University's Ashley Townsend
was named Honorable Mention All-American.
Ashley Townsend, senior
forward from Orrick, Missouri, was named HAAC Player of the Year
and earned 1 st Team All HAAC. Townsend, finished 6 th in the NAIA
averaging 19.1 points per game and lead the Eagles in scoring with
573 point. Ashley also led the Eagles with 32 blocked shots, 45
steals, and ranked second on the team with 197 rebounds.
Avila Eagle Women finished
the season with a 24-7 record and finished 3 rd in the HAAC with
a 15-5 conference record.
Avila University is a
private, co-educational, values-based liberal arts institution founded
by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet and is located at 119th
and Wornall Rd in southwest suburban Kansas City, MO.
