Townsend Named HAAC Player of the Year
Avila
University Women's Basketball Team Earns 3 All HAAC Honors
After the Lady Eagles finished
their incredible regular season with 23 wins, Ashley Townsend
was named HAAC Player of the year and 2 teammates earned All HAAC
honors.
Ashley Townsend, senior
forward from Orrick, Missouri, was named HAAC Player of the Year
and earned 1 st Team All HAAC. Townsend, finished 6 th in the
NAIA averaging 19.7 points per game and lead the Eagles in scoring
(550). Ashley also led the Eagles with 30 blocked shots, 45 steals,
and ranked second on the team with 189 rebounds.
Sarah Parker, senior guard
from Leawood, Kansas, earned 3 rd Team All HAAC, averaging over
10 points a game and leading the team with 3 pointers made (70).
Parker finished the regular season with 306 points, 31 steals,
12 blocked shots, and 85 rebounds.
Alyson Young, sophomore
post from Rogersville, Missouri, earned Honorable Mention All
HAAC. Young lead the team with 193 rebounds and made 140 free
throws, and finished second with 25 blocked shots, 15 steals,
366 points scored, while averaging almost 14 points per game.
Avila Eagle Women finished
the season with a 23-6 record and finished 3 rd in the HAAC with
a 15-5 conference record. They will host either Baker University
or Lindenwood Wednesday night at Mabee Fieldhouse starting at
7 PM.
