The Mabee Foundation offers Avila a $500,000 challenge grant, for construction of a new Fieldhouse.
1977
Men's soccer is started with 17 freshman and two transfer students. They reach district playoffs coached by Pete Tumminia.
1975
Avila introduces intercollegiate volleyball and women's basketball, intramural, and recreational sports programs.
1974
The college launched a men's basketball program led by Bill Waris.
1972
Avila alumni organize their first major Homecoming activity. Male students live on campus for the first time.
