One of the most prolific scorers in the history of men’s basketball at Avila College, Jeff Gilmore left his mark from 1974-77 as a force to be reckoned with on the hardwoods.
Gilmore was the MVP of the St. Louis Classic in the winter of 1975, the same year he earned honorable mention All-District 16 honors as a sophomore. A player with a complete game, Jeff averaged 16 points, seven boards and four assists a game as a sophomore.
His junior year under head coach Bill Waris was also outstanding- 17 points, seven rebounds and three assists per night- and he lit up Columbia College (34 points) and Missouri Baptist (35 points) in back-to-back contests that season. A 2nd team All-District selection in 1976, Jeff was later an assistant coach under Waris at Avila until 1981.
