2004-2005 Glitter Girls win a National Title in Open Hip-Hop and take 3rd Place in the Open Jazz Category at UDA Nationals!

The Avila University Glitter Girls clinched a first place finish in the Hip Hop Division at the Universal Dance Association's College National Championships this past weekend in Orlando, Florida.  The team was wearing purple baller bands on their right wrists in honor of Sarah Pitts, a 13 year-old from Lee's Summit who loved to dance, and passed away a few months ago after a battle with cancer.  Senior captain, Mandy Freeman, had taught Sarah dance since she was a small child and heard about the bands that were for a scholarship fundraiser, so she bought them for the team.  The team wore them in honor of Sarah  throuhgout the entire trip.  The team also returned home with a third place finish in the open jazz catagory of the competition.
